Calendar of Events

Current Prayer Request:

Randy Caddell, Director of Missions for the Western Kansas Baptist Association, provided the following update:

The fire burned all the heavy grass west of Satanta, KS. One feedlot burned, the approximately 10,000 head of cattle were released and herded toward the river bed where grass was shorter to avoid losing the stock to the fire. One small business caught fire, however fire response personnel were able to extinguish the fire before it could become a complete loss. A rural Pentecostal church burned to the ground.

Four homes were destroyed. All were old wooden structures that went up quickly. Two of the families who lost their homes are members of our church in Satanta. Pastor Rod Klingsick and Randy are working to provide lodging and assistance. Four trailer houses were destroyed.

Responding fire crews lost one small (1 Ton) Rural response vehicle. Responding county maintenance crews working with fire response personnel lost two road graders.

Highways have recently reopened and restoration crews are preparing assisted living facilities to receive personnel evacuated to Liberal and Dodge City, KS.

Thanks for your prayers and readiness to assist.
- Please continue to pray for all concerned and for the moisture that is needed across the state of Kansas, but especially out west.
- Pray for Randy and all of our folks who worked to save what could be moved from the path of the fire.

I will disseminate information as it becomes available. As devastating as the losses were to individuals concerned, we are blessed as this could have been much worse. I expect to learn more about the scope of need and how we might assist as the day goes on. God bless you all and thanks for serving and leading.
